KPMG Ghana has officially transferred recently renovated premises at the Anumele Cluster of Schools, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The initiative, which concluded following a six-week refurbishment starting from April 17, 2025, encompassed an extensive revamp of nursery school rooms and bathroom spaces. This effort underscores KPMG’s dedication to improving learning conditions for children at early education levels.
The initiative, steered by KPMG’s Impact Plan, is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically targeting SDG 4 that emphasizes quality education. Following an evaluation of various alternatives, KPMG's corporate social responsibility group pinpointed the Anumele school as a key focus area due to urgent infrastructural issues.
Earlier this year, an inspection of the area uncovered deplorable circumstances, such as rundown kindergarten buildings and insufficient restroom facilities that discouraged enrollment, particularly for girls during their periods. Prior efforts by different groups to tackle these problems had faltered, resulting in hazardous and non-functional structures remaining unaddressed.
The renovation revamped the school by updating Classroom KG 1 and Classroom KG 2, which were each provided with their individual restrooms, storage space, and an area for resting to enhance the welfare of younger students.
To enhance the educational experience, reading and writing resources were supplied as well. This initiative cost GH₵343,945 and was carried out by XL Design and Construction—a dependable collaborator from previous KPMG school projects—ensuring top-quality execution.
Andy Akoto, KPMG’s Country Managing Partner, emphasized the company's commitment at the handing-over event.
It is an honor to be present today as we celebrate the successful conclusion of the Anumele School Renovation Project," Akoto stated. "This endeavor stems from KPMG’s dedication to education, community growth, and nurturing our next generation of leaders.
He highlighted the project's importance in fostering a secure and supportive educational setting, a view reinforced by the company's optional employee donations.
The successful refurbishment was a team effort with significant involvement from important participants. Key figures such as Mrs. Cynthia Aboni, the Municipal Director of Education, and Headteacher Madam Theresa Attiogbe, along with School Improvement Support Officers and members of the broader Anumele Cluster community, contributed greatly. Financial support amounting to more than GH¢200,000 came voluntarily from staff at KPMG and others involved, which was crucial for realizing this project’s goals.
The refurbished amenities tackle key issues pinpointed during preliminary evaluations. Inadequately kept restrooms had formerly deterred participation, whereas tattered educational posters and insufficient resting spaces had impaired early child development.
The updated facilities feature an entirely outfitted ICT laboratory complete with printers, workstations, and a projector, thereby enhancing educational development. This represents Stage 1 of KPMG’s pledge to Anumele School, with intentions to provide ongoing assistance in future stages.
The local community is already experiencing these effects, anticipating higher enrollments and better educational environments. This initiative reflects KPMG’s conviction that all children should have access to secure and motivating spaces for learning.
“The Managing Partner stated, ‘It must be thrilling for you to experience these enhanced learning areas and restrooms.’ We share in celebrating this significant achievement with you and send our warmest regards to all students as they embark on their journey of education, growth, and contributing to Ghana’s future development.’”
