\xa0 Under the motivating theme 'Lighting Up Africa’s Tomorrow with Stardust,' the LucyAnn Excellence Awards 2025 turned Rising Academy School in Kasoa into a spectacular display of youthful scientific talent on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The ground-breaking ceremony honored Africa's upcoming trailblazers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), highlighting innovations set to redefine the continent's future trajectory.

The awards ceremony, far more than merely a contest, emerged from a forward-thinking endeavor aimed at discovering hidden potential.

The competition at Rising Academy School posed an ambitious challenge to more than 50 outstanding students through a demanding, multi-month STEM initiative focused on constructing inventions using discarded materials or goods. This endeavor aimed to transcend limits, stimulate critical analysis, and yield practical outcomes from the creative potential of youthful intellects.

The outcome was a stunning demonstration of creativity that left both the judges and participants completely amazed.

The furnace of contest: Where strictness encountered insight

Gloria Brew, who serves as the STEM Ambassador for the DevAfrica Institute with branches in Accra, the UK, and South Africa, headed the stringent evaluation process.

Seeing the remarkable level of insight and execution demonstrated by these students was truly humbling. Instead of merely finishing their assignments, they addressed both regional and worldwide issues using innovative and highly pragmatic solutions. This year’s theme about 'stardust' wasn't only figurative; we caught flashes of exceptional talent that will mold our continent and our planet in this digital age and far into the future.
