The aviation regulatory bodies have lengthened the operating times at Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport. This adjustment aims to enhance internal travel links and improve traveler ease.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) along with the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) released a joint statement today announcing that the updated timetable will commence on June 1, 2025.
As per the updated schedule, Prempeh I International Airport will be open between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., whereas Tamale International Airport will function during the period of 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was released by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority for all airlines. The directive advises domestic carriers to boost their flight frequencies at and between both airports, according to the announcement.
The officials asked travelers to keep the longer operating times in mind and adjust their trips accordingly.
This step is anticipated to alleviate travel stresses, notably for business travelers and merchants depending on adaptable flight timings between the nation’s north and south areas.
Prempeh I International Airport was rededicated to honor the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Agyeman Prempeh I. This renovation and renaming initiative forms part of wider strategies aimed at improving regional air transportation and distributing aviation facilities more evenly across the nation.
