SystemSpecs Unveils Winners of Essay Competition – International Edition (English)

SystemSpecs has revealed the champions of its sixth yearly Children’s Day Essay Contest, highlighting creativity, national pride, and excellence among Nigerian youth.

The announcement took place at a digital gathering conducted on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, which was part of the firm's festivities for Children's Day.

On Sunday, the organization released a statement indicating that this year's contest garnered more than 4,700 entries from students between the ages of nine and sixteen attending both public and private institutions throughout Nigeria's six geopolitical regions. This represents an uptick of thirty-three percent compared to last year's participation numbers.

Titled 'How I Will Use Technology to Mobilize My Peers for a Greater Nigeria,' the contest invited young Nigerians to imagine ways technology could drive joint advancement and national growth. According to organizers, the entries were daring, creative, and firmly grounded in the hope of seeing Nigeria flourish via technological innovations.

Adesewa Adeomi from Abesan Comprehensive Junior College in Lagos took top honors in the junior category, while Okeke Chukwudumebi Daniel from Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja claimed victory in the senior division. Both champions will be awarded with an N1 million cash prize, a new laptop, a year’s worth of internet access, along with various additional gifts.

The awards will officially be handed out during a hybrid CDEC Award Ceremony planned for June 2025. The exact date will be shared shortly, and we invite all stakeholders, partners, and supporters to participate in this virtual global event from anywhere around the world.

In the junior division, Agboola Caleb from Baylen Homeschools in Ogun State secured the second position, followed by Yusuf Ridwanullahi Adeleke from Immaculate Heart Senior Comprehensive High School in Lagos State, who claimed the third spot.

In the senior division, Mbadugha Chisom Ifechi Chukwu from Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Lagos and Ifewemeh-Ojo Hadassah Ohihioemehen from Kembos College in Lagos secured the second and third positions. They were awarded ₦750,000 and ₦500,000 in cash prizes, correspondingly, as well as laptops, internet subscriptions, and additional presents.

The Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja and the Abesan Comprehensive Junior College in Lagos emerged as winners in the senior and junior categories, respectively, due to their high-scoring submissions among the top ten essays. Both institutions will be awarded ten new laptops each to acknowledge their efforts in fostering educational achievement and enhancing technological capabilities.

Lagos State was declared the winner due to generating the largest number of public school entries within the top 100 submissions. This achievement highlights "the increasing impact of public education in promoting technological literacy and engaged citizenship amongst Nigeria’s young people," according to comments from SystemSpecs.

"For the past six years, our commitment has been focused on a single objective: to listen to and honor the voices of Nigerian children through the positive use of technology," stated Mrs. Bukola Adeboye, the Executive Director of Corporate Services at SystemSpecs.

“The CDEC is more than a contest; it is a catalyst for transformation, nurturing the dreams, confidence, and critical thinking skills that our nation urgently needs,” she added.

Deremi Atanda, who leads Remita Payment Services Limited—a division within the SystemSpecs Group—expressed his thoughts: "These emerging thinkers have filled us with pride and deep inspiration. The CDEC initiative strengthens our conviction that youth should play a key role in shaping Nigeria’s innovative journey."

SystemSpecs indicated that the essays underwent anonymous evaluation focusing on aspects such as originality, relevance, clarity, and the effective use of technology to guarantee impartiality and maintain the contest’s ethical standards.
