He mentioned efforts to provide vehicles to traditional rulers and bring various development projects to all 23 local government areas within the state.
The governor also spoke about the progress made in the Rural Transformation Programme, which aims to extend infrastructure to every part of Kaduna State. He stated that no region would be left behind, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring equitable development across the state. Significant achievements have been recorded in health, education, and agricultural revitalization programs, alongside improved security in many communities.
Social investment initiatives have played a crucial role in lifting many citizens out of poverty. The governor pledged continued efforts to create, innovate, and execute policies and programs aimed at making Kaduna State a model of development in Nigeria.
Speaker Abbas as a Stabilizing Force
Governor Uba Sani noted that Speaker Abbas has consistently served as a stabilizing force in the House of Representatives, with a leadership style that is inclusive and participatory. According to the governor, members of the house are focused on people-centred bills that address economic and developmental challenges rather than distractions or irrelevant issues.
Before delivering his speech, the governor asked the audience to observe a minute of silence in honor of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in Abu Dhabi at the age of 94.
Speaker Abbas Shares His Achievements
In presenting his scorecard, Speaker Abbas highlighted his accomplishments over the past 14 years, stating that he has sponsored more bills than any other legislator in Nigerian history. As Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas emphasized that he has done everything possible to justify the trust placed in him by his peers over the past two years. He outlined several initiatives undertaken in Zaria, including the establishment of new institutions for agriculture, veterinary science, technical education, and disability inclusion.
Abbas also mentioned the expansion of secondary two education, the launch of a N5 billion scholarship scheme for over ten thousand students, and the commencement of construction for an N80 billion Education Village hosting university, nursing, teaching, and legal studies campuses.
