A Nairobi company has announced an auction of 15 vehicles featuring different models.

Laar Auctioneers noted that the public auction will be conducted on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the respective yards.

"Under instructions from our principals, the financiers, we shall sell the under-mentioned repossessed motor vehicles by public auction on Friday, September 2025, at our yard starting 10:30am," it stated in a notice published in The Standard on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Financial analyst David Mutua explained that auctions like these tend to attract not only individual car buyers but also small company owners eager to increase their transport fleet at a lesser cost.

Although the prices seem appealing, he pointed out that purchasers need to weigh the risks of buying repossessed cars that are being sold "as-is."

Mutua added that banks are increasingly using car auctions to recoup delinquent debts, particularly in a tight economy when borrowers are having trouble making their repayment commitments.
