
Philipp Rösler, who previously served as vice chancellor of Germany, has been appointed as a director at the low-cost carrier Vietjet.
The individual, who is of Vietnamese ethnicity, will serve until 2027 at the age of 52.
Previously, he served as an independent director at a different airline starting from 2023, where his role involved providing strategic guidance aimed at enhancing global partnerships, notably involving stakeholders and collaborators based in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

He hails from the Mekong Delta region in Soc Trang province but was adopted and brought up in Germany.
Previously, he served as a military doctor before transitioning to a political career.
In 2009, he was named Germany's Minister of Health. Two years thereafter, he took on the role of Vice Chancellor, concurrently continuing his duties as both the Minister of Economics and Technology and the Minister of Health.
In 2014, he stepped down from his political career and has subsequently taken up important roles at major German firms such as Siemens, Deutsche Bank, and Lufthansa.
Vietjet has also removed Donal Boylan, Luu Duc Khanh, Chu Viet Cuong, and Nguyen Thanh Hung from their positions as directors because they will join the company’s founding council instead.
