Elmina, June 02, GNA - The Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT) has reaffirmed its dedication to hands-on education and turning out students who are well-prepared for the workforce.
This is illustrated through the internships and attachments provided to students at the different GN Company entities, which operate across multiple sectors, aiming to ready them for employment.
The institution provided confirmation during its second convocation and fourth enrollment ceremony, held in Elmina within the Central Region.
The event was conducted with the theme: "Enabling Graduates to Foster Innovation and Creativity for Economic Growth and Development."
The alumni completed different programs such as BSc. Banking and Finance, BSc. Information and Communications Technology, BSc. Information Technology Management, and Diploma in Management Studies.
Ms Constance Yvette Owusu, the school’s inaugural femaleSRC President, was crowned the overall top student for 2023, whereas Mr David Malik Acquah emerged as the top graduate for 2024.
Ms Vera Frimpong was the top-performing female graduate among the diploma students for 2024.
Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the Chairman of GN’s Governing Board, emphasized the significance of a robust collaboration between industry and academia during his speech at the event.
He pointed out that the hands-on experience provided to the students set the school and its alumni apart.
Dr. Nduom stated, "Our aim is to ready them for productivity once they depart from this place; thus, we emphasize internships and practical experiences significantly."
We have requested that all Group Nduom companies accommodate the students so they can gain work experience and understand real-life scenarios.
Dr. Nduom expressed these comments during the institution's second graduation ceremony and fourth enrollment event in Elmina.
With guidance from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), the institution graduated a total of 25 students who finished their studies in 2023 and 2024, including 14 male and 11 female students.
Among them, three students graduated with first-class honors, 14 with upper-second-class honors, five with lower-second-class honors, two with third-class honors, and one with a passing grade.
At the same time, NSBT formally admitted 62 additional students who will be enrolled in different degree and diploma programs.
To showcase their dedication to hands-on learning, GN Electronics honored several students who managed to collectively put together 100 televisions during their time with the company.
Regarding the televisions, Dr. Nduom stated: "The TVs are operational, and we have started selling them to the broader market."
"They are currently available in Elmina for anyone interested in purchasing one," stated Dr. Nduom.
He observed that GN Electronics faced several difficulties lately but has since rebounded, vowing to increase its activities.
The initial batch has been tested and all is well; we'll proceed by obtaining additional components to build more units and maintain an ongoing process.
Regarding the field of banking, Dr. Nduom expressed optimism about reclaiming his banking license shortly with the aim to finalize and manage a halted bank initiative on campus intended for educational purposes such as teaching and learning.
“Once this occurs, we won’t merely utilize the building and facilities for instruction; students will also gain hands-on experience in various banking activities, ensuring they graduate with practical knowledge in the field,” he noted.
He emphasized that alumni from the institution were distinguished due to the school’s ethos, which centered around fostering leadership, illuminating paths, and nurturing talents.
Dr. Nduom disclosed initiatives undertaken by the institution to obtain a charter with the aim of transforming into a comprehensive university.
"We feel this event should serve as proof to everyone that the Nduom School of Business and Technology remains committed to advancing and providing education that meets the needs of today’s society," Dr. Nduom stated additionally.
The Rev Prof Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, who serves as the Rector of the institution, stated that the educational experience provided to the students stood out due to the rigorous training they underwent.
To ensure their graduates excelled uniquely, they emphasized strict adherence to ethics and comprehensive rule-following.
French language was also a mandatory subject for students, equipping them to seamlessly integrate into various parts of the globe, he mentioned.
"French holds significance for us since all the neighboring countries around us use French as their primary language. It’s crucial that we deliberately focus on instructing our students in French," he emphasized.
Professor Nyarko urged the graduates to utilize the skills and knowledge they gained from the institution for the betterment of both their local communities and the nation as a whole.
