Nigerian Army College of Nursing Opens Admissions for 2025/26 Academic Session

The Nigerian Army College of Nursing (NACON) in Yaba, Lagos, has officially launched the admissions process for its Bachelor of Nursing Science programme for the 2025/26 academic session. This initiative is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to train skilled nursing professionals who will contribute to the healthcare sector.

The programme is offered in collaboration with the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and accredited education. The Ag Registrar, Lt Col A Popoola, provided detailed information about the admission process, including the requirements, screening dates, and other relevant procedures.

Admission Process and Requirements

Admission is open to military and paramilitary personnel as well as civilians. The nursing programme spans five years, providing students with both theoretical and practical training essential for a career in healthcare.

To apply, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  • Possess a minimum of five (5) credits in their O-level results (WASSCE/GCE, NECO), which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, obtained in one sitting.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 25 by October 2025.
  • Be a Nigerian by birth.
  • Have taken the 2025 UTME and scored at least 200 marks.

Candidates are required to submit relevant documents such as O-Level results, a secondary school testimonial, birth certificate, certificate of origin, and their 2025 UTME result. Additionally, a passport photograph must be attached during registration.

Application Procedure

The application forms are available on the NACON website at www.nacon.edu.ng. Candidates can access the forms for registration from 7th July to 30th August 2025. During this period, applicants must ensure all required documents are uploaded and the necessary information is provided accurately.

Screening Examination Details

The screening examination for the nursing programme is scheduled for 2nd and 3rd September 2025. The venue for the examination is the NACON Complex in Yaba, Lagos.

Other Related Admissions

In addition to the nursing programme, the Nigerian Army has also initiated the admission process for Command Secondary Schools across the country for the 2025/2026 academic session. The entrance examination for these schools is set for Saturday, 21st June 2025.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State University (LASU) has commenced its online admission screening exercise for the 2025-2026 academic year. Candidates who applied via UTME (100 level) and those applying through Direct Entry, who have chosen LASU as their first-choice institution and scored 195 or above in the 2025 UTME, are eligible for this process. The university emphasized that all candidates must be at least 16 years old by October 1, 2025.

These developments highlight the ongoing efforts by various institutions to expand access to quality education and training opportunities in Nigeria. Prospective applicants are encouraged to stay updated with the latest information and adhere to the specified timelines to ensure a smooth application process.
