A flight attendant has disclosed the reason behind the regulation mandating that they always carry two flashlights during their travels.
Skye Taylor, who was employed by Virgin Atlantic For 16 years, she ensured these three essential items were with her as per her supervisors' instructions before boarding a flight.
Speaking to What's The Jam The staff member stated: "First and foremost is definitely the passport. Despite what some may believe, having this document is essential."
She went on to say: "A flashlight is essential. We should bring two flashlights with us, and there are also flashlights available on the plane for emergencies."
'However, we must also bear our own torch.'
And another item is a resuscitation face mask, just in case anyone experiences cardiac arrest, though unfortunately, I have had to use it on three occasions during my career.
The team requires a flashlight equipped with a red lens to safeguard their night vision during emergencies, along with a white lens flashlight for routine tasks like cleaning or inspecting the aircraft.
Although these elements are crucial for her to be permitted to conduct the flight, Skye also disclosed the additional items she includes in her bag.



She mentioned that the crew members always have a water bottle with them because they claim to be constantly dehydrated.
Additional useful items consist of a wallet holding money from various nations across the globe, along with her collection of adaptors and chargers.
Skye added: 'But the most important thing we carry is our hot water bottle; every crew member has one.
'The temperature can drop significantly at higher altitudes, varying with the type of aircraft.'
