A recently launched publication, 'Travel Southern Africa' magazine, aims to reshape perspectives and encourage discovery throughout the Southern African area. It serves as an all-encompassing resource for those who have a passion for adventure and wish to explore this part of the continent.
The magazine aims to take readers on journeys through various spots across Southern Africa. It covers places such as the beaches of KwaZulu-Natal, the vast deserts of Namibia, the city life of Cape Town, and the lakeside settings of Malawi. This effort intends to showcase the wide range of sights and activities offered within this region.
As stated, the promotional efforts for tourism and hospitality in Southern Africa during the second quarter started with the first publication of Travel Southern Africa. This coincided with the opening of the WTM Africa expo.
This 68-page magazine aims to assist travelers in exploring the area's varied experiences, featuring a compilation of photographs along with captivating stories about sites, accommodations, and conservation and community projects.
"The publication honors the individuals, groups, and stories that infuse vitality into the area, covering everything from 'Bush Breaks' to 'African Penguin Conservation,' and making an impact within local neighborhoods," they noted.
The publication was developed by publishers Andrew Muswala, recognized for his contributions to Travel & Leisure throughout Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana, alongside Tessa Buhrmann, an acclaimed conservationist and the editor behind Responsible Traveller.
Additionally, the magazine will be placed in safari camps, lodges, hotels, and among tour operators to cater to those seeking genuine and responsible travel opportunities. It will also have selective distribution in both local and global airport lounges, such as the SLOW Lounge Group and South African Airways/Discovery lounges, where they connect with approximately 100,000 travelers each month.
The choice to introduce a print magazine was carefully weighed considering both its ecological effect and broad appeal. As Buhrmann stated, "Our aim is to make sure our printed version leaves the smallest mark possible." By restricting printing quantities and optimizing circulation within airport lounges, hotel rooms, and lodges, every issue reaches numerous travelers, thus expanding outreach without generating unnecessary waste.
"Travel Southern Africa" is offered in both printed and digital formats. This dual approach aims to enhance accessibility and aligns with the publication's commitment to sustainable and conscientious tourism, as well as its aim to promote regional and global exploration within the area.
